S.H.I.N.E is an acronym that stands for Sistas Helping In Neighborhoods Everywhere. The organization was started in 2015 by three women who
believed that unity among the women population is needed in order to build everlasting progression. During the beginning years it targeted adult
women. In growth we learned that the women that we served had perspectives that were learned at a young age. It was then established that if we
wanted change it would start with our young girls. S.H.I.N.E then created a six month continuous curriculum that focused on self awareness through
community involvement and higher education. As most underserved girls don’t have the immediate resources to obtain this knowledge. The curriculum
created a layer that builds monthly from one topic to the next. Implementing the social aspect of uniting young girls to be able to strengthen, self identity
and work together to achieve goals as a team. The program doesn’t end at the six month curriculum, but continues to have the previous girls as
mentees to the new girls that are coming into the program. We believe that each girl has a purpose to shine in their community.
