Founded in 2010 by Michelle Joan Papillion, PAPILLION is an art business that produces ambitious, innovative and important projects in contemporary art.
We work with emerging to well established artists to develop and present new ideas and exhibitions in public spaces. Some projects of note that PAPILLION
has produced and/or collaborated on are the Kingdom Float with artist Lauren Halsey, Issa Rae’s 90’s Party and Florida Water with artist Numa Perrier to
name a few. Additionally we have introduced, exhibited and/or supported very prominent artists in the beginning of their careers Nathaniel Mary Quinn,
Calida Garcia Rawles, Noah Davis, Lauren Halsey and Sadie Barnette to name a few. PAPILLION ART has been called one of the most important gallery
spaces on the west coast. Inclusiveness, diversity and community centeredness have always been the pillars of our company, we believe firmly that ART IS
FOR EVERYONE and ALL ARE WELCOME. We have been early supporters and advocaters for many prominent women and POC artists, writers, archivist,
historians and other professionals in art. In 2016 PAPILLION closed both gallery spaces in Downtown Los Angeles and in Leimert Park to focus on a new
branch in the company centered around arts media. PAPILLION also provides art consulting and advisory services to public, corporate and private
collections, as well as art focused partnerships in fashion, television, film & with major brands.
